Common questions

Why is the practice called Falcon Rescue LLC?

It is the registered legal name of the business, which is why it appears on filings and correspondence. The work is accounting: tax return preparation and filing, bookkeeping, and payroll, carried out by a licensed New York State CPA.

What does it cost to have my return prepared?

It depends on what the return contains. A single W-2 is a different job from a Schedule C with rental property and stock sales. You get a quote at the end of the initial consultation, before any work begins, and it does not change unless the scope does.

Do I have to come to the office?

No. The office is at 187-15 Jordan Ave in Saint Albans and you are welcome there, but everything can be handled remotely by phone, email, and secure document transfer if that suits you better.

What should I bring to the first meeting?

Last year's tax return if you have it, plus any income documents that have arrived so far. That is enough to have a useful conversation. You will get a checklist tailored to your situation afterwards.

What is the difference between a CPA and a general tax preparer?

A CPA is licensed by New York State, holds an accounting degree with additional coursework, has passed the four-part Uniform CPA Examination, has documented supervised experience, and must complete continuing education every year. CPAs also have unlimited representation rights before the IRS. Anyone with a PTIN can prepare returns; the license is the difference in accountability.

I have not filed in several years. Can you help?

Yes, and this is more common than you would think. The approach is to file the oldest missing year first and work forward, then deal with any balance through a payment arrangement. Filing voluntarily puts you in a considerably better position than waiting for the IRS to file a substitute return for you.

Can you handle both my business and my personal return?

Yes, and it is usually better that way. Business income flows onto the personal return for most small entities, so having one practice see both means the two agree and nothing is counted twice or missed entirely.

What is New York City Unincorporated Business Tax and does it apply to me?

It is a New York City tax on income from unincorporated businesses, meaning sole proprietorships and partnerships operating in the five boroughs. It is separate from federal and state income tax and has its own return. If you run an unincorporated business in the city, it probably applies, and credits may reduce or eliminate what is actually owed at lower income levels.

When are the deadlines?

Individual returns are generally due 15 April. Partnership and S-corporation returns are generally due 15 March. Extensions push the filing date but not the payment date, so an extension without a payment still accrues interest. Exact dates shift when they land on a weekend or holiday.

How do I send documents securely?

Not through the contact form on this site, which is for getting in touch only. Once you are a client, you will be given a secure method for transferring documents. Please never email Social Security numbers, bank details, or tax documents as plain attachments.

Do you offer bookkeeping on its own, without the tax return?

Yes. Bookkeeping is available as a standalone monthly engagement. Most clients do combine the two, because closing the books and filing the return in one place removes a handoff where things go missing.

What areas do you serve?

The office is in Saint Albans and most clients are from southeast Queens: St. Albans, Jamaica, Hollis, Queens Village, Springfield Gardens. Clients elsewhere in New York City and New York State are welcome, and remote work makes distance largely irrelevant.

Still have a question?

Ask it directly. You will get a straight answer, not a sales call.
